More than twenty-five years of singing with the Chapel Choir of Summer Fields inspired the desire to know more of the history of its chapel. The result is the culmination of eighteen months of research, photography and editing to produce this definitive history.

Decorated throughout with stunning pre-Raphaelite stained glass by the renowned artist Henry Holiday, the private Chapel of St Nicholas sits at the heart of Summer Fields School, Oxford. This book, signed by the author, includes over 50 photographs and illustrations that catalogue the history of the chapel, lavishing time and minute detail on the stunning windows in particular.

The Chapel at Summer Fields is where generations of boys, along with members of staff and parents, have experienced the worship of God.

It has been and is the place, not only for School worship week in and week out, but also where many have been baptised and confirmed, where marriages have taken place and services of Thanksgiving held.

Here is the place in the heart of the school where, through the singing of hymns and psalms, the reading of the Bible, the Eucharist, the silence, the music of choir and Organist, many have been formed in the Christian faith.

We owe a debt of gratitude to Dominic Price, on the staff since 1998, for the careful research and beautiful photography that has given us this fascinating history.
